Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs) are required for transferring or receiving any material from an entity. Biological materials, such as reagents, cell lines, plasmids, vectors, and live animals are the most frequently transferred materials. MTAs specify the rights, obligations, and restrictions of both the providing and receiving parties with respect to issues such as ownership, publication, intellectual property, and permitted use and liability.
