Assessment:
DIA engages with scientists across India to identify scientific discoveries with unforeseen potential in solving specific societal problems. Each discovery is evaluated based on the technology and market landscape to assess its potential and market readiness level.

Translation:
For the selected scientific discoveries, the requirements for their successful market adaption are mapped. The work then progresses according to assigned Technology Readiness Level (TRLs) milestones. This often involves experimental cross-validation of existing discoveries as per industry standards, generation of proof of concept devices/technologies and value-addition steps to make them suitable for particular applications.

Technology commercialization:
The translation team works in close association with the industry liaison officers and legal advisors to file patents for the intellectual property generated. The technology/product can then be licensed off to industry/startups or as an independent spin-off company.
